Le gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, souhaitant développer l’exploration pétrolière et minière, a voulu construire une nouvelle ville de 300 habitants. L’architecte Ralph Erskine fut mandaté pour créer un environnement adapté au climat arctique, intégrant les concepts de mur-écran pour protéger ses habitants. Des propositions d’habitation et d’aménagement ont été avancées, mais seulement une partie du mur fut construite.

 

The Government of the Northwest Territories, wishing to develop oil and mining exploration, wanted to build a new city of 300 inhabitants. The mandate was given to architect Ralph Erskine to create an environment adapted to the Arctic climate with wall-screen concepts to protect the inhabitants. Housing and development proposals were advanced, but only part of the wall was built.
